Nusantara Regas Satu FSRU, Indonesia

Nusantara Regas Satu is a critical LNG import and regasification facility supporting power generation across Java, Indonesia’s most populous island. Operating offshore Jakarta since 2012, the FSRU has played a key role in strengthening energy security, diversifying fuel supply, and reducing reliance on coal-fired power.

Energos Infrastructure has supported the project through its LNG infrastructure and operational expertise, helping deliver long-term, reliable floating regasification capability to one of Southeast Asia’s most important power markets.

Positioned approximately 15km offshore Jakarta and connected to the onshore grid via subsea pipeline, the facility supports a significant proportion of electricity demand across the capital region.

Challenge

Rapid growth in electricity demand required Indonesia to secure reliable natural gas supply while diversifying its energy mix and reducing dependence on coal-fired generation.

Solution

A converted LNG carrier was deployed as a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), enabling fast-track delivery of LNG import infrastructure without the need for a traditional onshore terminal.
Through its role supporting the project, Energos Infrastructure has helped demonstrate the long-term operational viability and strategic value of floating LNG infrastructure within large-scale national energy systems.

Execution & Impact

Since entering operation in 2012, Nusantara Regas Satu has delivered sustained LNG supply to one of Southeast Asia’s most important power markets:

  • 450+ LNG cargoes received
  • ~30 million tonnes of LNG delivered
  • Supports a significant proportion of Jakarta and West Java power demand

The project has strengthened energy resilience, enabled greater fuel diversification, and supported the reduction of coal dependence across the region.

Operational Performance

Operating continuously for more than a decade, the FSRU has maintained approximately 98% availability with minimal unplanned maintenance. The facility delivers average send-out volumes of approximately 235 MCFD, with peak capability of up to 500 MCFD.

Energos Infrastructure continues to support the long-term operational reliability and performance of the asset through its LNG shipping and floating infrastructure expertise.

Strategic Significance

Nusantara Regas Satu demonstrates the value of floating LNG infrastructure in delivering scalable, lower-capex energy solutions for rapidly growing markets. By integrating offshore regasification with subsea pipeline infrastructure, the project provides a resilient and adaptable model for strengthening national energy systems while supporting long-term transition objectives.

The project also reflects Energos Infrastructure’s broader role in supporting the deployment and operation of floating LNG infrastructure globally.
